A Graveside service for Gene R. Gant age 71 of Enid will be 2:00 pm Wednesday, February 28, 2024 at Memorial Park Cemetery with Rev. Kenneth Wade officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home and Crematory.
The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6:00-7:00 pm at the funeral home.
Gene was born March 26, 1952 in Neosho, MO to Donald and Fern (Seeliger) Gant and passed away February 20, 2024 at St. Mary’s Hospital. He moved to Ada at a young age and attended and graduated from Ada High School in 1970. He attended and graduated from East Central University in 1974 with a degree in History.
He married Donna Cotter on November 21, 1981 in Enid at Redeemer Lutheran Church. Gene entered the U.S. Army 1973 and was honorably discharged in 1977. He went to work for Rock Island Railroad, later for Frisco Railroad and retired as a locomotive engineer for BNSF after 33 years on February 10, 2010. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church.
Gene is survived by his wife Donna of the home, sons, Gene R. Gant, II of Enid and Donald Gant of Council Grove, KS, two brothers. David Gant and Rex Gant and several other family members.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
