The funeral for Wayne R. Puckett, 91 year-old Fairmont resident is 2PM Saturday, February 3, 2024 in the Henninger-Hinson Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.
Wayne was born September 12, 1932 in Okemah, Oklahoma to Martin and Oliie (Black) Puckett and died Thursday, January 25, 2024 in Enid. He graduated from high school in Dustin, Oklahoma. After high school, Wayne enlisted in the U.S. Army.
On February 10, 1956 he married Elisabeth Walther in Babenhausen, Germany. In 1963 he became a Green Beret serving with the 5th, 7th, and 10th Special Forces in the 101st Airborne. The couple started their family with son George at Ft. Cambell, Kentucky. They added to their family with Christine at Ft. Bragg. The family moved to Ft. Sill in 1968 and then to Enid where he was Army recruiter. Wayne then worked for the state of Oklahoma and retired again. Elisabeth preceded him in death in 1993.
On December 20, 1997 Wayne married Elane Upchurch and the couple made their home in Fairmont. He was a member of the VFW, enjoyed traveling, working on his property, the lake, and tinkering with anything mechanical. .
Wayne is survived by his wife Elane of the home, daughter Christine Puckett of Mannford, daughter-in-law Valerie McCamy, grandchildren, Sara, Steven, Matthew, and Brandon, five great-grandchildren, Austynn, Jaxon, Grayson, Bailey, and Anderson.
Wayne is also survived by two step-children Michael and Robin Hatfield. Grandchildren, Lauren, Jacob, Asher, Thomas, and Sean-Michael. Great grandchildren, Alice Marie, Sutton, Dreagen, Dante, Drake, and Desmond.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Elisabeth, son George, brothers; Marvin, Allen, Dean, Dale, and Ray and two sisters, Pauline and Lela.
