William Melton Taylor
1964 - 2024

"Mel” William Melton Taylor, born December 7, 1964, passed from this life to be with our Lord and Savior, Jesus on Tuesday April 16, 2024, with the love of his life, wife Susan by his side.

Preceded in death are Father Louis Taylor, Nephew Jason Coberly, Brother Guy Taylor, and Sister Diane Taylor.

Mel leaves behind his wife Susan Ray Taylor of Sulphur. Daughter Valerie Taylor and fiancé Brannan of Cleburne, Tx. Son Nicholas Taylor of Tuleta, Tx. Son Joshua Woodell of Moore, Ok. Son Ryan Woodell, son Blake Ray, daughter Hannah Marie Williams and daughter Sarah Williams all of Sulphur, Ok.

His mother Velma Smith and husband Jr. of Davis, Sister Darlene Coberly and husband Neal of Sulphur, Sister Dana White and husband Chris of Davis, Sister Sharon Judd and husband Barry of Sulphur, Brother Scott Taylor and wife Vallerie of Davis. And many beautiful grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and beloved friends.

Mel was born and raised in Sulphur, Ok. He told me stories of running around all day long through the park, sometimes with his brother Guy, escaping the cares of this world. Later that carefree adolescent would turn mischievous and would later be found out to be a part of one of many who would regularly add soap to the fountain outside The Artesian Motor Hotel (his accomplices shall remain nameless). He later found himself moving to Texas and St. Louis, along the way being blessed with his beautiful children Valerie and Nick.

After he moved back to Sulphur, he grafted in more children, Josh, Ryan, Blake, Hannah Marie, and Sarah. He loved them all and tried to instill what God had taught Him.

Mel and Susan met in the summer of 2003 and forged a friendship that lasted years. They later married December 31, 2015.  Every night Mel and Susan prayed over their children, and they will continue to be, calling out each name one by one, for God's blessing.

Mel was rescued by God, delivered from every vice, and then called to preach. Mel served God right under 3 decades preaching, teaching the gospel, writing and playing music with his son, Ryan, friend Dennis and his wife Susan. During that time, Mel was called into and served 15 years of prison ministry, which is nearest and dearest to his heart.

He has acquired over the years, many close friends and brothers in Christ. He was forever changed and blessed to know.

“How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the gospel of peace, Who bring glad tidings of good things!
