(Oklahoma City, OK) According to Governor Kevin Stitt, Oklahoma municipalities can start applying for federal aid in order to cover expenses for the coronavirus pandemic.

An online portal has been introduced where county and city leader can submit for reimbursements and expenses that are related to the pandemic.  So far, the state has received $1.2 billion in n federal funding thanks to the CARES Act through December 30th.

The state plans to start the process of requests on June 1st, with money going out by mid-June.

The federal government does have guidelines for how funds can be used, however. Localities are only allowed to request reimbursements for expenditures that occurred after March 1st, and COVID-19 related. Municipalities are not allowed to submit requests for lost sales tax revenue, or funds to offset budget shortfalls.
