The 11th annual Connie Mack Oklahoma State Tournament began Wednesday at David Allen Memorial Ballpark.

The Enid Plainsmen and Majors were both able to begin pool play with a win, to improve to 1-0 in their respected pools.

The Plainsmen kicked things off between the two Enid teams participating, knocking off Shockers Red 4-0. Plainsmen pitchers Blake Pries and Tyler Holland both combined to shutout Shockers Red in the win.

Priest threw four innings from the mound, with a game-high of five strikeouts. While from the other side of the spectrum, Jake Kennedy led the Plainsmen in hits with two and Kade Goeke added an RBI on the stat sheet.

The Plainsmen are back in action Thursday from David Allen to take on the OK Drillers, with first pitch scheduled for 5 p.m

Following the Plainsmen win, the reigning South Plains Regional Champion Enid Majors took the field. They were able to once again get a come from behind win, this time over Shockers Black, 12-4.

The Majors went into the bottom of the second inning trailing Shockers Black, 4-1. But the Majors answered that half inning with three runs of their own to tie the game up at four a piece. It stayed that way for a few innings before the Majors scored a run in the bottom of the fourth inning to regain the lead at, 5-4. Things got out of hand in the bottom of the sixth inning for Shockers Black, when the Majors’ bats really began to wake up, scoring six runs in the bottom half of the final inning.

Majors pitcher Kasen Jackson was able to come up big for the Majors, throwing five innings while striking out six of Shocker Black’s hitters.

Majors’ Titan Stephens had his way at the plate today, he might as well have saw a beach ball instead of a baseball. He had three hits with three RBIs in the win. Jaxson Crull was also able to add three RBIs of his own.

The Majors are back in action Thursday night following the Plainsmen game at 7:30 p.m. against Woodward. This will be a fun rivalry game for Majors head coach Kris Webb. He spent 15 years of his life as a Woodward traveler before coming over to Enid.
