(Enid, OK) As the number of COVID-19 cases continues to rise, Visit Enid and the Garfield County Health Department are asking residents to Show Us Your Mask as we approach the third annual Enid Comic Con on Saturday and Sunday at the Stride Bank Center.

The two departments have teamed up for a PPE Decorating Contest this week through Visit Enid social media channels on Facebook and Instagram. Show your creativity in designing your personal mask or face shield. Snap a picture and submit your mask using the hashtags #ShowUsYourMaskEnid, #VisitEnid and #EnidComicCon2020. Submission deadline is 5 pm Thursday, July 30 and winners will be announced Friday morning on the Visit Enid social media pages. The winner will receive a large tray of chicken nuggets from Chick-fil-A.

Rae Johnson, Health Educator at the Garfield County Health Department, says the mask contest is a way to have a little fun during this crazy time.

“We are still experiencing an increase in COVID-19 cases in Garfield County,” Johnson said. “We still want everybody to have fun. We like to have fun in our office and decorate our masks but it’s still important to practice those public health safety measures, wearing masks, washing hands, keep social distancing. At events like Comic Con, it’s really important to wear those masks to help prevent the spread.”

Visit Enid director Marcy Jarrett says the mask contest fits right in with the Comic Con theme as most attendees will already be wearing masks as part of their costume.

“Everyone going to Comic Con must wear a mask anyway,” Jarrett said. “Why not get into the Comic Con spirit, be creative and have some fun? Express yourself with your PPE mask.”
