Fort Supply Sees Outbreak in COVID-19, State Sees Over 1k New Cases

(Enid, OK) Oklahoma accounted for 1,101 new COVID-19 cases on Monday, with more than a third coming from Fort Supply in Woodward County, where an outbreak of the virus has occurred in William S. Key Correctional Center.

As of Sept. 18, 2020, William S. Key Correctional Center had 221 inmates who had tested positive for the virus, with seven employees also having confirmed cases.

Of the two deaths reported Monday, one was a Oklahoma County woman in the 50-64 age group and the other was a Rogers County man in the 65 and older age group.

St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center reported on Monday that it has 14 inpatients who have tested positive for the virus. Integris Bass Baptist Health Center had six patients hospitalized who had tested positive for COVID-19 as of Friday reports.

Garfield County saw a single-day increase of 28 cases on Monday, taking the overall total to 1,504 since March, with 312 active cases according to the OSDH. Enid saw an increase of 22 cases for an overall of 1,418, with 293 being active.

Case increases in cities and towns in the area included five in Woodward, two each in Ames, Meno and Okeene and one each in Okeene, Pond Creek, Mooreland, Watonga, Waukomis, Cherokee, Dover, Hunter and Kremlin. Other Northwest Oklahoma county case increases on Monday were six in Major, three each in Blaine and Woods, two in Kingfisher and one each in Grant and Noble counties.
