COVID-19 Numbers Climb Over Holiday Weekend

(Enid, OK) Oklahoma surpassed 300,000 cases of COVID-19, with 20 new virus-related deaths being reported by the Oklahoma State Department of Health over the weekend.

The OSDH reported 5,002 new cases of the virus on Saturday and 3,015 on Sunday after the holiday weekend.

Of the deaths reported Sunday, 16 were in the 65 or older age group. The 16 deaths were three men and a woman from Tulsa County, a man and woman from Cleveland County, men from Cherokee, Garvin, Oklahoma, Okmulgee, Comanche and Pottawatomie counties and women from Wagoner and Kay counties.

In addition to the death in Blaine County, an Oklahoma County man and a Seminole County woman in the 50-64 age range were reported and a woman from Oklahoma County in the 36-49 age group also was reported by the OSDH.

Garfield County saw an increase of 78 COVID-19 cases over the weekend, raising the active total to 5,578 since March, with 470 of those active.

Other county case increases in Northwest Oklahoma over the weekend included 32 in Noble, 23 in Woodward, 20 in Kingfisher, 18 in Alfalfa, 17 in Woods, 16 in Grant, 12 in Blaine and 11 in Major County.
