The city of Enid put out the following press release. The City of Enid and Enid Woodring Regional Airport has identified and secured funding for four major projects totaling an estimated $8,184,375 that will improve Vance Air Force Base’s operations at Woodring Airport.

new 120’x120’ Joint-Use Hangar will be constructed using funds from the Oklahoma Strategic Military Planning Commission, the Oklahoma Aeronautics Commission, the Oklahoma Department of Commerce, and the U.S. Department of Defense through the Office of Local Defense Community Cooperation’s Defense Community Infrastructure Pilot (DCIP) Program. This hangar can be used to shelter VAFB aircraft in the event of severe weather as well as be utilized by Vance maintenance to perform engine changes, wheel changes, and other maintenance needs. The estimated cost for this project is $2,296,825.

The South Ramp, the second largest of the three ramps at the Enid Woodring Regional Airport, will be reconstructed at an estimated cost of $1,883,850. This ramp is utilized heavily by VAFB aircraft, especially during weekend operations or in the event of diverts. Funding sources utilized for this project will be the U.S. Department of Defense DCIP Program grant and the Oklahoma Strategic Military Planning Commission.

The South Ramp Hangars will be removed, and improved hangars constructed in their place at an estimated cost of $2,003,700.  A portion of funding for this project is through the Oklahoma Development Finance Authority.

The airport has also partnered with the Oklahoma Department of Commerce to fund a roughly $2,000,000 Tower Display Workstation acquisition which will install radar capabilities in the Woodring air traffic control tower. With the traffic volume of new military student pilots operating in Woodring’s airspace the addition of a radar workstation has significant safety benefits.

Construction is scheduled to begin in Spring 2023 and is expected to be completed in 2024.
