At the last Enid Mayor and Board of Commissioners Meeting of 2022 which took place on December 20th at 6:30 pm, a vote was passed to award $29,770.00 for a Walking Trails Interactive Arts Project. The contract was awarded to Kelly Thompkins of Hive Appear and Emme Hughes of EH Metal Works.

During the meeting, the Chair of the Garfield County Democratic Party Nancy Presnall spoke during the public comment section of the meeting about the recent controversy at the Enid and Garfield County Public Library. The controversy stemmed from allegations of criminal conduct by library employees involving the chatroom app discord made at a library board meeting in November.

The Enid Police Department investigated the allegations and found no evidence of criminal conduct. However, the city of Enid in a statement said that “online discussions with minors without parental consent on matters outside the core mission of the library” took place.

Presnall said, “We stand in full support of the library and their staff”. At the Mayor and Board of Commissioners meeting that took place on December 6th, several citizens spoke out against and in favor of the library staff. Citizen Derek Tineas said in a public comment during the December 6th meeting that “Circumventing parents and going behind their backs is unethical, immoral, and such people should have no place in public service”.

Also taking place during the meeting was the rezoning of a property on Willow Rd that will allow a drive-thru Coffee Shop to be Constructed.
