SHERYL LEE RALPH SAYS IT TOOK HER ’40 YEARS TO BECOME AN OVERNIGHT SENSATION:’ On the most recent episode of Sunday Sitdown with Willie Geist, Sheryl Lee Ralph reflected on her acting journey. "My mother immigrated from Jamaica. And my mother would say, 'Be a doctor. Be a lawyer. And if you can’t do that, then marry one,'" she said, imitating her mother’s accent. "I said, 'Oh, my God. I will never be a doctor. I will never be a lawyer. This is not happening in my life." Despite landing roles on television shows and in films such as Moesha, Sister Act 2, and The Mighty Quinn, Ralph didn’t receive recognition until she won an Emmy last year for her role on Abbott Elementary—becoming the second Black woman in history to take home the award for outstanding supporting actress in a comedy series. "It took me 40 years. 40 years to become an overnight sensation," she told Geist.

Flaco died on Friday (February 23rd) at the age of 13 after seemingly colliding with a window, according to People. “i’m actually devastated,” the Mean Girls actor wrote. Banks shared a video she took of the owl and added, “I was a bit obsessed with seeing this amazing owl Flaco whenever I visited NYC after we spotted him last February (along with a world of photographers). This is terrible heartbreaking news.”
