Alice Cooper confirmed that his Hollywood Vampires project with Aerosmith's Joe Perry and Johnny Depp is still alive and well. During a chat with Radioactive Mike, Cooper was asked if the band was a thing of the past and said, "Oh, not at all. I just talked to Johnny a couple of days ago, and he's writing like crazy. He just finished an album with Jeff Beck. And yeah, Johnny's playing guitar with Jeff Back during this whole thing, and then, y'know, all the Vampires are writing."
He went on to say, "(Our guitarist) Tommy (Henriksen) writes a lot and Joe writes and I write, so when we get back together, we're going to be making an album pretty quick. That band is so good we could just put them in a studio and let them play live, and we'll nail it."
Alice Cooper admits he doesn't know how he would compete in today's music marketplace as a new original artist: ["I think if I started a band today, I don't know, I wouldn't know how to compete with the bands today. If I were Alice Cooper starting today, I think you probably have to kill somebody and then get acquitted so people know that you're a killer, at least, so you have some validity, whereas when I played Alice before, all I had to do was play that killer. Now I think, you know, on a lot of rap records, a lot of even the metal things, you have to kill something or kill somebody or be implicated in a killing or something in order to have validity. Out now is Alice Cooper's latest Bob Ezrin-produced album, Detroit Stories. The collection features contributions from MC5’s Wayne Kramer, the Detroit Wheels' Johnny "Bee" Badanjek, and the Motor City Horns — best known for their work with Bob Seger.
