Coming out Friday, March 29th, is "The Sea of Emotion, Pt. 1," the first song ever recorded together by guitar legends Joe Satriani and Steve Vai. The two have been friends for decades; Satriani, who's older, was Vai's guitar teacher in California when the two were teenagers. They've toured together before as part of Satriani's G3 packages and are on the road together now as a duo. "The Sea of Emotion" is the first song recorded for their first album as a duo, which is slated for release in 2025.

Satriani tells us the instrumental track was inspired by field in Carle Place, Calif., where he and others would gather during their youths, often late at night:

"I introduced it to Steve at some point, and then he to his friends, and so I thought that's what I should write about. That should be the first song or songs I use as the inspiration for Steve and I starting to write together. So I wrote these two songs, 'Sea of Emotion Part 1 and Part 2.' I sent it off to Steve. I had no idea if he was gonna like it or want to play it, but he really took to it and he understood that the theme itself was so important for us to get going." SOUNDCUE: 38

"The Sea of Emotion, Part 1" is available via all streaming and download services.

In addition to touring with Vai, Satriani will be on the road this summer with Chickenfoot bandmate Sammy Hagar as part of The Best of All Worlds Tour that begins July 13 in West Palm Beach, Fla.
