Richie Sambora is prepping his first new music since 2018. Blabbermouth transcribed some of the former-Bon Jovi guitarist's chat with Red Carpet News TV, when he was on hand at London's Nordoff Robbins O2 Silver Clef Awards. Sambora revealed, "I have a new record that's ready to go and I've been kind of holding it through the pandemic. And I'd say in the fall we're gonna put it out. I'm very proud of it. I don't write bad songs anymore; I just don't; it just doesn't happen. And the people I work with would be, like, 'That's bollocks.' But it's not hard for me. I'm just lucky that way."
Sambora went on to say, "I just write all the time, so it's like a daily exercise for me. I try to come up with something every day. It's like having a journal. It's like keeping a journal of your thoughts, keeping a journal of what's going on in your life, how you're feeling."
The new album will mark Sambora's first new music since his 2018 project with former partner, guitarist Orianthi on their joint album, Radio Free America, which was billed to their duo, RSO.
Richie Sambora told us that the seed to his and Bon Jovi's success can be traced straight back to learning how to write good — and then great — songs: ["The foundation of it is obviously songwriting. When you finally learn how to write a song — it takes a while, because you suck for about five years — and then all of a sudden you find something, you strike a nerve that strikes a nerve with someone else. And that's what songwriting's about, it's basically communicating with other people.
