Todd Rundgren is set to release a live recording of his 1973 classic album A Wizard, True Star!. The new live version was recorded in 2009 in Akron Ohio. It was released on DVD and CD last year and now has been pressed on vinyl. An added extra is that the vinyl will be colored in a rainbow swirl.
The studio version was originally released in 1973. Rundgren did most of the producing, engineering, and performance himself.
The album, which mixes prog, psychedelia, bubblegum pop, show tunes, and soul music, was recorded at a time he was growing more influenced by artists like Frank Zappa and Yes.
The new LIVE version of A Wizard, True Star! Will be available on March 5.
Rundgren is currently on his Clearly Human tour, doing 25 live virtual shows through March.
