The Los Angeles Police Department has offered more details about why Killer Mike was arrested at the Grammys after winning Best Rap Album for MICHAEL, plus Best Rap Song and Best Rap Performance for "Scientists & Engineers." A spokesperson confirmed that the rapper, real name Mike Render, was "detained and handcuffed for a physical altercation" and later "booked for misdemeanor battery," but was "released on zero bail" soon after. A law enforcement source told Rolling Stone that Killer Mike encountered a female security guard outside the venue who tried to direct him to a security checkpoint. He refused and ultimately pushed her to the ground in the altercation. He refused to address the arrest during interviews yesterday, saying only that he hit a "speed bump" while celebrating his Grammy wins.
