Nicholas Malvagna, the man who hit Bebe Rexha in the face with his phone at a New York concert last year, agreed in a court hearing last week to perform 40 hours of community service in exchange for having his charges dismissed. He must also not violate an order of protection for 6 months.

Rexha required stitches after the incident last June, and Malvagna was arrested. The manhattan DA noted that he freely confessed to throwing the phone, and stated: “I was trying to see if I could hit her with the phone at the end of the show because it would be funny.”

Malvagna was charged with two counts of assault in the third degree, one count of harassment in the second degree, one count of aggravated harassment in the second degree, and a count of attempted assault in the third degree.
