(WASHINGTON) — The Pentagon was placed on lockdown Tuesday morning after a shooting and stabbing at the Pentagon Transit Center, according to a U.S. official.

The lockdown was later lifted and the Pentagon has reopened, the Pentagon Force Protection Agency said shortly after noon ET.

The incident at the transit center remains unclear. The Pentagon Force Protection Agency said the scene is secure but remains “an active crime scene.”

The scene of the incident is secure. It is still an active crime scene. We request that everyone stay away from the Metro rail entrance and bus platform area. Transportation at the Pentagon is diverted to Pentagon City.
