Enid Public Schools announced that Penny Flynn, Olivia Hammontree, and Penny Shepard as their Support Professionals of the Year Finalists.
EPS invites everyone to attend this celebration on December 13 from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Enid High School Gymnasium
Penny Flynn has been a secretary at Enid High School for the last 10 years. She began as a custodian at Taft Elementary in 1988. District Accountability Specialist, Kayla Waldrop, was the one who nominated Flynn. “Penny is so good at juggling 100 things at once,” Waldrop says. “She’s usually the first to arrive and the last to leave. She does so much that goes noticed.”
Olivia Hammontree is a paraprofessional and a crossing guard for Waller High School. She is supportive of students and teachers, as well as having a huge love for helping others. According to Hammontree’s colleague, Deborah Milaeck, “All the Staff at Waller recognizes Olivia as a partner in education and often say that her lives are made easier by having Olivia in the classroom with them.”
Last but not least is Penny Shepard from Monroe Elementary. She is a paraprofessional for Monroe Lions and is devoted to providing support to students in need. She has been working with the district for 39 years, serving multiple jobs helping students and staff. Monroe Principal Dr. Amara Detrick spoke about Penny Shepard. “She has made a difference in literally generations of Enid students at this point!” she says. “Penny is flexible-willing to do whatever is necessary for Monroe. She builds relationships with students.”
