(Enid, OK) The deadline to register to vote in the January 12th special elections for Kremlin-Hillsdale Public Schools and town of Fairmont.

According to a press release from Garfield County Election Board Secretary Michael Frisbie, Friday will be the last day to register or update voter registration to vote in the elections in the new year.

Any person who is a U.S. citizen, an Oklahoma resident and at least 18 years old can apply to become a registered voter. Those who aren’t registered or need to change their registration may apply by filling out and mailing an Oklahoma Voter Registration form, according to the release.

Kremlin-Hillsdale Public Schools is proposing a $2.03 million bond issue. The bond will not raise taxes because of newly installed pipelines and wind turbines in the area and will go toward “constructing, equipping, repairing and remodeling school buildings, acquiring school furniture, fixtures and equipment and acquiring and improving school sites and levy and collect an annual tax and other taxes, taxable property and so on and so forth,” according to Frisbie.

Fairmont’s plan would be to have a renewal with OG&E for 25 years, giving OG&E the right to “produce, transmit and distribute electricity”.

For the Jan. 12th special elections, the form must be taken to the election board office by Friday at 4 p.m. or postmarked no later than midnight on Friday. Applications that come in after Dec. 18 still will be accepted, but will not be processed until after Jan. 13th of 2021.
