The State of Oklahoma is holding an “If I were Mayor” statewide essay contest which invites 8th-grade students statewide to write what they would do if they were Mayor. Enid Mayor George Pankonin is encouraging Enid students to participate.

Pankonin said in a city press release “I know what the curmudgeons that join me at the breakfast club would do if they were the mayor, they tell me almost every day. What I would like to know is how our younger folks would answer that question and here’s your chance! Please consider sharing your great ideas on how we should run our cities!”

Students statewide are encouraged to participate regardless of whether or not they are home-schooled and attend public school or private school. Winners will be honored at the annual Congress of Mayors on February 10th in Oklahoma City.
