National Veterans Flagpole United sponsored soon-to-be Eagle Boyscout Michael Silver’s project. To become an Eagle ranked boy scout, Michael needed to do a project. His original idea was to install an American Flagpole at Benny’s Barn but was approached by the non-profit organization National Veterans Flagpole United.

They offered to sponsor his project free of charge. The event took place at 9:00 am on July 27th, where friends, family, and other boy scouts helped install the flag. The former mayor of Enid, George Pankonin, was given the honor to break the ground for the flagpole. In the interview we had with him, he said, “Seeing an organization that prides itself on being able to give a flag to veterans to the people that have defended that flag . . . that’s such a joy to me.”

National Veterans Flagpoles United also held flag-planting ceremonies for other veterans throughout the day.
