Natural Gas Explosion Occurs Near Ames Early Thursday

(Ames, OK) A natural gas line, southeast of Ames, exploded early Thursday morning on Feb. 18th.

An underground gas line exploded at around 5:23 a.m. and sparked a fire about a mile and a half east of Ames.

Gas companies had shut off the pressure this morning as the fire was being put out by the Ames and Meno fire departments, as they were the only two fire departments who were able to handle the fire.

No injuries were reported from the site of the fire.
