National Veterans Flagpoles United is bringing awareness to the 22 veterans we lose to suicide every day by planting 22 flagpoles for veterans in one day. They have named it the 22 in November event and it will be on Sunday, November 5. The meet-up spot will be at Jackson’s of Enid.

Veterans Outreach Coordinator Richard Riggins from NVFU recently had an interview with EnidLIVE! about their upcoming event honoring 22 veterans. “This next week we’re gonna start digging holes for our 22 in November event. We’re actually gonna go out on the 5th of November and we’re gonna honor 22 veterans on that day to bring awareness to the fact that we lose 22 veterans a day to suicide.”

Richard spoke more on how to get involved in the 22 in November event. “We’re gonna meet at Jackson’s between 8 (am) to 8:30 (am) and we’re hoping to break down into different teams. If we have enough volunteers, we want to break into three teams. In that way, each team can go out and stand up a flag pole and present it to the veteran. They’ll do 7 of them, and then all three teams will come together for that final veteran, so there’ll be a big presentation for our last one . . . .”

He talked about the KNID Pet Adoption event happening on Saturday, October 28. “We’re going to be at the pet adoption activity at Jackson’s this weekend. We’ll have an information setup there on how you can nominate someone. You get a flagpole from us, or if you want to donate to us for our cause we’ll be out there for that.”

National Veterans Flagpole United is a non-profit organization that focuses on honoring veterans by giving them a free flagpole.
