A two-vehicle collision on Monday afternoon near the intersection of W. Owen K. Garriott Rd. and S. Garland Rd. has left one person injured.

David Hayes, 73, was attempting to turn left on to S. Garland Rd. when his 2017 Chevrolet Cruze was struck on the passenger side by a semi-trailer truck driven by 32-year-old Steven McConaghy. Both vehicles managed to stay upright, sliding to a stop in front of the northbound lanes on S. Garland Rd.

McConaghy claimed he had the green light to move through the intersection at the time of the accident. This claim was later corroborated through dash camera footage and an eye witness account.

Hayes was transported by Life EMS to St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center in Enid and was admitted with non-incapacitating injuries to his arms and trunk area. Meanwhile, McConaghy exited the accident mostly unscathed and refused an ambulance ride.
