Night 1 of the Road to the Gold Ball is in the books, 2 teams have moved on to the Class B-4 girl’s district championship game. It will be the Medford Lady Cardinals taking on the Kremlin-Hillsdale Lady Broncs as both teams have punched their tickets to the regional tournament.

In game 1 the Medford Lady Cardinals defeated the Burlington/Freedom Lady Elks 57-18. Kaydence Killian led the way for the Lady Cardinals with 10 points while in the losing effort, the Senior Mylee Sims led the way for the Lady Elks in her last game as an Elk with 9 points. Medford jumped out to an early lead with a relentless press break and pressure on defense forcing several turnovers.

Burlington was unable to overcome the early turnovers and come back into the game.

Up next it was the Kremlin-Hillsdale Lady Broncs taking on the DCLA Lady Eagles whom they defeated 78-22. It was similar to the Medford game where relentless pressure from the Lady Broncs never let the Lady Eagles get into a rhythm. Aowyn Seek had 7 points and several steals, while Pepper Elmore had 13 points. Madelyn McReynolds had a great game for the Lady Eagles in her last high school basketball game, recording 12 points.

Medford will meet up with Kremlin-Hillsdale in the Class B District Championship Game on Saturday, February 10th, pregame starts at 5:45 pm, while the tipoff will take place at 6:00 pm. Listen to the game on CTB Sports on My957. the KXLS App, and Enidlive.com
