Enid Plainsmen District Championship Hopes Still Alive

The Enid Plainsmen took care of business on Monday night defeating the Bixby Spartans 9-4 at David Allen Memorial Ballpark avenging their 16-6 loss in the State Championship Game a year ago. However, the Plainsmen still need some luck if they want to finish up as district champions, Piedmont currently sits in 1st with a 10-3 district record while the Plainsmen sit in 2nd at 9-4. If the Plainsmen can finish off the sweep of Bixby tonight and get a little help with a Piedmont loss to Bishop Kelly.

The Plainsmen have a real chance to take care of business. However, downing the Spartans once again will be no easy task. Bixby started the year 18-3 and although they have lost 7 of their last 9, all of that talent is still there. The Spartans from earlier in the year could show up any night.

However, the Plainsmen are playing their best baseball, they have won 7 in a row and look like a team ready to make a deep run in the playoffs. Finishing 1st in the district would be a great way for the Plainsmen to start the road to the State Championship.
