State Sees Over 2k New COVID-19 Cases As Delta Variant Spreads Around the Country

(Enid, OK) Oklahoma gained 2,688 COVID-19 cases and 11 deaths in the past week, according to OSDH on Wednesday.

Garfield County’s COVID-19 cases increased by 11 in the past week for an overall total of 7,856 since March of 2020, with 12 active cases.

Of the county’s 139 deaths, 128 have been in Enid, according to OSDH city data, with five in Lahoma, one each in Drummond, Fairmont, Garber, Covington and Waukomis, and one not listed by town.

According to the OSDH’s COVID-19 Risk Level System, seven counties in the moderate, “orange,” risk level are in the northeastern part of the state, bordering Missouri and Arkansas. Missouri and Arkansas have seen outbreaks of COVID-19 due to the highly contagious Delta variant.

Other Northwest Oklahoma county case increases in the past week included five in Kingfisher, three in Blaine and one each in Grant, Noble, Woods and Woodward.
