Sen. George Burns, R-Pollard, has introduced Senate Bill 1275 to increase oversight and protect state parks.

The bill ensures that the Oklahoma Tourism and Recreation Commission must receive legislative approval before terminating, canceling, or the non-renewal of state park property.

“State parks are treasured assets that provide opportunities for outdoor recreation, environmental education, and family enjoyment,” Burns said. “Senate Bill 1275 aims to ensure that decisions regarding the management and ownership of state park properties are made with careful consideration and oversight to preserve these valuable assets for the benefit of all Oklahomans.”

Senate Bill 1275 is now available to be considered the Oklahoma Senate.
