Cherokee Strip Celebration

When the guns fired at Noon on September 16, 1893, no one could imagine what Indian Territory would become. Now 128 years later, we think those brave pioneers, our ancestors, would be proud of the way Enid has grown.
Enid’s birthday is celebrated each year with the annual Cherokee Strip Celebration in downtown Enid. Presented by the Greater Enid Chamber of Commerce, this two-day event celebrates our heritage as well as what we have become over the last 128 years. Friday is the annual Indian Taco lunch on the courthouse lawn.
Saturday begins with the Enid Walk of Fame Ceremony at Stride Bank Center, this year honoring Kyle Williams and Walter Scheffe. The festival begins at 9:30 am, with the parade around the downtown square at 10:30 am. Then at 12:30 pm, there will be a special celebration of the Connie Mack World Series-champion Enid Majors at David Allen Memorial Ballpark.
Enid at 128 never looked so good!
