City of Enid and Garfield County Emergency Manager Mike Honigsberg gave some fire safety tips ahead of the 4th of July during Enid’s City Update on Monday. Honigsberg said “it’s illegal to bring fireworks into the city” Honigsberg also reminded Enidites that, “it’s also illegal to fire the fireworks on a county road or near a crop”.

Honigsberg also stressed that if anyone did cause a fire on the 4th of July, they should report the fire to the Fire Department. While Enid hasn’t dealt with any range fires this year, it is always a concern especially given the dry climate Enid is experiencing.

According to Honigsberg the city of Enid is in a severe drought coming out of an exceptional drought which is even worse. So the conditions are favorable for fires, especially if fireworks are nearby.
