We’re into the final week plus of the regular season in high school baseball. It’s crazy to think about how fast this season has flown by. And there’s still a lot at stake for the Enid Plainsmen. They’ve still got an outside shot at winning the district outright (need Tulsa Union to lose both of their remaining games). If Union wins 1 of their 2 games this week against Booker T. Washington, the attention will turn to clinching the #2 seed in the district and hosting a regional next weekend.
This is the more likely of the 2 scenarios but it isn’t a guarantee by any stretch. The Plainsmen need to win 1 of the next 2 games against a tough Stillwater team to clinch that #2 seed OR they need Bixby to lose 1 of the next two games against Bartlesville. The Plainsmen if either of those results happen, the Plainsmen will get the #2 seed in the district based off the tiebreaker which the Plainsmen currently hold over the Spartans. However, if the Plainsmen were to lose both games against Stillwater and Bixby were to win both their games against Bartlesville, Bixby would win the #2 seed and the Plainsmen would be forced to go on the road for their regional next weekend. So a lot is at stake this week for the Plainsmen, especially today and tomorrow.
