CTB Sports spoke with Enid Head Baseball Coach Brad Gore about his team’s upcoming matchup against Owasso, with a District Championship on the line. Coach Gore spoke about the District Championship and losing a close game against Owasso 3-1 on Monday. “It’s still in play, and first, tell me how you guys thought you played in a really close 3-1 loss on Monday. You know what, that was just a really good ball game. We just needed one knock, you know, and we had guys in scoring position.”
Enid will have to defeat Owasso by 3 or more runs to win the District Championship, here’s what Coach Gore had to say about his team’s mentality heading into the game “You know, we have to beat them by more than two to win the district. But really what we’re concerned with is winning the game and get back on a winning track. I told our kids if we worried about the number of runs we had to score to beat them, we’d end up losing.”
Coach Gore also spoke about the performance of Senior Pitcher and Short Stop Aidan Robinson, who is expected to start against Owasso on the mound. “And, you know, so we’re really proud of him. He’s thrown the ball extremely well this year. You know, he’s about as good as number two, I call him 1 B. He’s as good as most people’s one. So we’re lucky to have him and we’re looking forward to him going out and competing on Thursday. I think if he pitches like he’s capable of, we play defense behind him, he’ll give us a really good chance to win the game.”
