Northern Oklahoma College Enid is hosting the Upward Bound Summer Academy, a federally funded program designed to support low-income and first-generation college-bound students.

Running from May 27 to June 26, the academy offers academic guidance, mentorship, and college preparation to high school students in the Enid area.

40 students, primarily from Enid High School, are participating in the program, meeting daily from 9 a.m.-2 p.m.

The initiative aims to increase college enrollment and graduation rates among students from Enid, Pioneer, Kremlin-Hillsdale and Waukomis high schools.

Director Erin McCoy released a statement regarding the program.

“Summer Academy is an important component of our year-round program, not just academically, but socially as well,” McCoy said. “The students experience navigating a college campus while preparing for the next level of advanced high school classes and the ACT.”
