In this interview, CTB Sports Director Derek Darr sat down with the Kremlin-Hillsdale Head Football Coach James Worley to discuss the offseason so far.
Coach Worley started off by talking about how spring practices have gone as a whole.
“We have a group that’s coming up with Lineman with a mixture of some old guys, and so it was good for our spring practices to get the new group kind of combined together and just see what we can do. X’s and O’s and actually saying go…we had good practices and [good] camp. Took more than what we are usually used to taking, and so we got a lot of good reps.”
Coach Worley highlighted the efforts of some players who have stepped up and made an impact.
“Our two leaders are going to be Chase Pirtle, senior, and Tyler Smith, junior, our quarterback. Chase will be a running back and our linebacker, and so they stood out on offense for sure…Chase is our all-around utility guy…he’s been a pretty good threat at receiver, and so we were able to move him around pretty well.”
“And then we’ve got another senior that we moved to center to move back, Taron Ashlock, and he did really well holding his own in the middle at center and nose guard. So then we have a bunch of freshmen who are fully capable of [stepping] up; [they] did a lot of good work. “
