Crescent Head Football Coach Brandon Gipe talks offseason so far

In this interview, CTB Sports Director Derek Darr sat down with Crescent Head Football Coach Brandon Gipe to discuss the offseason.

The coach shared how spring practices have gone so far.

“Spring went night and day better compared to what it was a year ago, and that was to be expected. Last year we had a lot of changes in terms of on staff and scheme, and we had a lot of young kids that was in their first time [being] the guy at their position, but this year, it was really good. Kids know the scheme, kids know the expectation, they know the pace at which I want things done….”

Coach Gipe began to talk about the importance of the weight room and how recording progress makes it more impactful.

“Big time, and that’s something that I take very seriously, is the weight room. I keep a lot of data to track gains that are made, strength jumps, and things like that. I think once the kids saw it on paper from when I got there a year ago, their squat max was 275, where now they’re squatting 375 or whatever it may be. Once they saw that on paper, they realized ‘Okay, the weight room is a big deal, and it will make us better. We are getting stronger, getting bigger…."”
