Cherokee Head Football Coach Bryce Schanbacher Previews Season

In this interview, CTB Sports Director Derek Darr sat down with Cherokee Head Football Coach Bryce Schanbacher to discuss the upcoming season.

Coach Schanbacher started off by talking about the practices as a whole.

“We took a little different approach this spring. We backed off just a little bit, and we had a lot of kids who] are highly involved in track and some other activities at the end of the school year. And so [I] gave them a little bit of a break. We did a couple of spring practices, and I thought those went well. Kids last year who were returning underclassmen looked like they were picking up everything and remembered things.”

Coach Schanbacher wanted to highlight how two returning seniors have been performing.

“Our seniors, Joel Parker and Tony Macias, both of those guys…knew their senior year was coming up and took things real serious. Joel plays some linebacker on defense, maybe some defensive end, and then on the offensive side, primarily a tight end. But we’ve got some ideas of moving him around and utilizing him in some different places on the offensive side as well….”
