In this interview, CTB Sports Director Derek Darr sat down with the Alva Head Football Coach Ryne Wilson to discuss the upcoming opener against Fairview.
The coach started off by commending Fairview’s Head Coach, Robert Bernard.
“They’re a Coach Bernard team. They’re going to be very, very well coached. They’re in the system; he’s been there for as long as he’s been there, and they continue to get better. They’re a machine…I got to coach with Coach Bernard at the Classic Bowl this year and got to pick his brain on how he does his program stuff. I like a lot of the things he does. He’s kind of set the standard for the rest of us up here in northwest Oklahoma.”
The coach wanted to highlight how much this rivarly means to Alva.
“It’s a great game [like] always, these rivalry games…It’s one of those he looks forward to because it’s just Alva-Fairview. It’s one of the best rivalries I’ve been a part of. A win would be huge—a huge win for us would be to go down there and get after them.”
