Celebration of Life Service for George H. Drake, 82 of Covington, will be Friday, September 26, 2025 at 2:00 pm in First Baptist Church, Covington with Pastors Phillip Gregg, Tommy Donaldson and Jody Schmidt officiating. Cremation arrangements are by Anderson-Burris Funeral Home and Crematory, Enid.
George was born October 22, 1942 in Southwest City, Oklahoma to Henry and Opal (Hobbs) Drake and passed away on September 18, 2025 at his home.
He enlisted in the U.S. Army when he was 17 and after his discharge, George returned to Jay, Oklahoma. On March 26, 1960, he married Peggy Scroggins and they moved to Wichita, Kansas. He worked at Fleming Company. They returned to Jay, and bought the sale barn. They moved to Covington in 1965, where George started trading cattle and raising cattle. He always thanked God for letting him use his land. On February 26, 2006, George married Cindy Acosta.
He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Percy, Bill, Henry and Eddie; six sisters, Emily Hanna, Minnie Bea West, Betty Holzichter, Frosty Easter, Dorothy Upton, and Eva Daniels; sister-in-law, Cheryl Dunn; brother-in-law, Terry Dunn.
George is survived by his wife, Cindy; children, Junior (Priss) Drake, Pam (Louis) Jones, Kim
Berglan, Brad (Angie) Drake, Debbie Goodspeed, Kerri Davis, Nicole Miller, Carol Beasley, John (Linda) Mullen; 22 grandchildren and 40 great grandchildren; nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
Memorials may be made through Anderson-Burris to First Baptist Church, Kids Quest.
