In this interview, CTB Sports Director Derek Darr sat down with OBA Head Football Coach Chris Cayot to discuss the upcoming matchup against Pioneer.
The coach started off by giving an outline of Pioneer:
“They’re hard-nosed, tough kids. They’re going to come out and run the ball down your throat and just challenge you every down. Coach Overstreet does a great job with them. They are well-coached, well-versed in what they do, physical, and they tackle well. So it’s a huge challenge every year when you play them. ”
Coach Cayot talked about how the team is doing, especially from last year’s matches:
“But coming off the season we had last year, it’s huge to go get a first district win. [The] kids are really excited. It’s tough to struggle through those down years, but they happen. At small schools, you have the ups and downs. [I’m] really excited for the kids. They put in a lot of work; a lot of them struggled through as freshmen and sophomores last year, and even juniors.”
