In this interview, CTB Sports Director Derek Darr sat down with the Waukomis Head Football Coach Rustin Donaldson to discuss the upcoming district championship against Cherokee.
The coach began by discussing what to expect from Cherokee:
“Anytime we play [against] Cherokee at any level, it’s a battle. They’re an excellent, well-coached team. They’re an excellent, well-coached team. They’ve got weapons everywhere, and they’re big up front. They’re solid on defense, and so it’s going to be a challenge this week. This game is a de facto district championship game.”
Coach Donaldson talked about the key to victory in the upcoming matchup:
“They’re really sound, athletic, and big, [but] we’ve been constantly improving every week. You’ve got to break tackles and hold onto the football. All those cliches come to fruition when you play a championship game.”
