In this interview, CTB Sports Director Derek Darr sat down with Lahoma Fire Department Chief Blade Bode and Lahoma Police Chief Mathew Hankins to discuss the Lahoma 4th of July Celebration.

Hankins began by giving an outline of the events:

“That morning, we’re going to start everything about 9 a.m. We’re going to have car shows, vendors, food trucks…bounce houses [are] coming out [at] about 5 to 7 p.m. with a bunch of games and events for kids. It’s a $10 wristband. Throughout the day, we’ll have turtle races, a beer wagon, and at night, we get to blow up a bunch of stuff.”

Hankins also shared how many fireworks they have in stock and expanded on the fireballs from last year:

“This year we should have somewhere around 200 mortars and 250 cakes as of right now…we had some special effects last year that might’ve concerned a few people because they didn’t know what was going to go on, but they were gas mines, is what they are. It’s basically a big fireball up in the sky, and they’re going to be bigger and better this year.”
