1970 - 2026
A Celebration of Life for Monty Corbet, age 56, of Enid, will be 2:00 pm, Thursday, July 2, 2026, at the Ladusau-Evans Chapel. Service and cremation arrangements are under the direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home and Crematory.
Monty was born on May 10, 1970, in Pratt, KS to Ralph and Susie (Thompson) Corbet, and passed away on Thursday, June 25, 2026, in Pond Creek.
After graduating from Haviland High School Monty attended Barclay College, where he played basketball and still holds the school record for the most three-pointers made in a single game. In 2006, he married Jessica Pratt in Las Vegas, Nevada. Throughout their marriage, they lived in several communities as Monty pursued his career with Union Pacific Railroad, where he worked for more than twenty-eight years.
Monty was the go-to person at the rail yard, respected for his knowledge, experience, and willingness to help others. Over the years, he trained many employees and took pride in sharing his expertise. Friendly and approachable, he was always ready to lend a hand. His strong work ethic, unwavering dedication, and exceptional attention to detail set a high standard for those who had the privilege of working alongside him.
He was an avid golfer who enjoyed playing any course he could find. Although he had a quiet personality, Monty never met a stranger and formed lasting friendships throughout his years in both the railroad and golfing communities. He especially enjoyed connecting with fellow K-State fans, who quickly became friends through their shared passion for the Wildcats.
He is lovingly remembered by his family as a strong leader who encouraged them to be their best. His thoughtful care for them showed daily in all his actions. Monty and his wife, Jessica, recently celebrated their twentieth anniversary and he was her constant source of strength, comfort, laughter, and companionship. He loved her with a loyal and generous heart. He never missed an opportunity to tell her how much she meant to him. His devotion to his family was evident to all who knew him. If you needed a great song or amazing food, he was your man.
Monty is survived by his wife Jessica; three children, Grayson of the home, Jenessa Corbet of Larned, KS, and Cassidy Corbet, of Topeka, KS; his parents Ralph and Susie Corbet of Augusta, KS; siblings, Teresa Lewis, Jodi and Michael Feltman, Angie and Roger Powell, Cody and Megan Corbet, Callie and Russ Wolfe; and many nieces and nephews.
Memorial contributions in Monty's name may be made to a memorial account, at First State Bank in Dalhart, TX, with Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home and Crematory serving as custodians of the funds.
