Celebration of Life Service for Charles Dewey Tappan, 91 will be 10:00 am Thursday, August 13, 2026, at Graceway Baptist Church with Pastor Craig Bruyn officiating. Burial will follow in Enid Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Anderson-Burris Funeral Home and Crematory.
Charles was born January 30, 1935, in Enid, Oklahoma, to Francis and Ethel Parrish Tappan and passed away on August 8, 2026, in Enid.
He grew up in Enid and worked for many years for the City of Enid. On March 8, 1957. Charles married Wanda King and they made their home in Enid. He was an active member of the Graceway Baptist Church. Charles enjoyed traveling, Nascar, old western movies, and was a devoted OU fan. He especially enjoyed spending time with his kids and grandkids.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Wanda; parents; daughter, Connie Denise; grandson, Chase; sons-in-law, Nick Campbell and John Underwood; brothers, Phil and Walt.
Charles is survived by his children, Jim Tappan, Sherry Wilson, Veda Campbell, Kelly Underwood, and Curtis Tappan; fourteen grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren; ten great, great grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
Memorials may be made through Anderson-Burris to OMRF-Cancer or Graceway Baptist Church.
