Colby gave some insight into Brad Cornelson and his uplifting take on defeat from last year’s Plainsmen season:
“Just one year for Brad Cornelson as the head coach at Enid, but the thing I’ll give Brad credit for is that he never got down on the year. Obviously, 0-10 last year, not where you want to be…what was a difficult year last year up at top flight 6A1, was that he always viewed next game as an opportunity to get these younger guys some experience, get them in front of 6A1 opponents, the sorts of top-flight teams that Enid is going to have to be competitive against to get back to where they once were in football.”
The guys discussed that despite the rough season, the Plainsmen gained some valuable experience and strength:
“We saw some improvement, a lot of improvement between the beginning and the end of the year. And you just got a whole ‘nother year since then. Another year [that] the guys have been in the weight room, another year in the offseason preparing; just the weight room is going to help the guys being another year older, growing more, putting on more muscle, and just another year under your belt of experience.”
