On Wednesday, March 4, Enid Police responded to reports of gunshots near 23rd St. and Cedar Ave. to find Kendra Diane Smith, 53, of Enid, had sustained multiple gunshot wounds.
Smith was transported by Mercy ambulance service to St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead.
Officers discovered that Smith’s assailant was her estranged husband, 56-year-old Jefferey Len Smith, of Oklahoma City. Officers located his vehicle at the Love’s Travel Stop at 4104 E. Randolph Ave, where Smith was found deceased in his vehicle from an apparent suicide.
The case remains under investigation, and limited information has been released.
