Fairview Public Schools announced late on Sunday that school board president Travis Pembrook has passed away at the age of 51.

FPS will host a memorial service for Pembrook in the high school gymnasium on Wednesday, August 27 at 11 a.m. Fairview High School will not be in session on the day of the memorial service, but both Cornelsen Elementary School and Chamberlain Middle School will have classes as regularly scheduled.

Pembrook, an alum of both Fairview High School and Oklahoma State, had served as the president of the Fairview School Board since 2016.

Additionally, Pembrook and his wife, Beth, managed Pembrook Cattle Company, handling Angus cattle on the family’s land just outside the town of Fairview. The pair also ran a custom fitting service, preparing cattle for sales and shows across the country.

Pembrook was also a board member for both the American Chianina Association and the Live Like Lily Foundation. The latter organization provides scholarships in memory of Lily Romanchuck.
