Author E. Joe Brown released A Cowboy’s Fortune, the sequel to his other book A Cowboy’s Destiny.

The story follows a cowboy named Charlie Kelly in 1919. He recently married the love of his life Susan, whose father built a business empire. Charlie wants to start his own oil company, but tragedy strikes. Being the best oil man in Oklahoma won’t be the same as being the top hand at 101 Ranch. It will take all he’s got to challenge competitors, family, and sabotage. When Susan’s life becomes at risk, Charlie needs to step in the cowboy way.

Brown recently had an interview with Derek Darr with EnidLIVE! discussing some backstory with the series.

Brown started off by talking about his book as a whole.

“It’s going to be a continuation of the story,” Brown said. “As a matter of fact, page one is the next day after the day ended in book one. Charlie and Susan are my main characters. The book talks about their first year of marriage as they take control of the Kramer Group Business Conglomerate; which includes Kelly Oil, everyone in Oklahoma knows that oil is a big deal.”

He talked about why he made his choices for the characters.

“I wanted to take advantage as an author of all the aspects of things that were happening In Oklahoma and in the country at the time,” said Brown. “But Charlie will never not be a cowboy, and ranch life will never go away.”

Brown talked about some of the inspiration for his story.

“It’s something I want to celebrate. I was born in Ada, Oklahoma, and grew up in Padawada New County, and Payne County . . . there’s a lot here to celebrate, besides football. And so I wanted to do that. Another aspect that drove me to write about the 101, Cowboys, and all of that in the state is my granddaddy Keller.”
