Funeral Services for Ivon “Vonnie” Elizabeth Choate, 88, Waukomis resident, will be held at 10am on Tuesday, June 23, 2026 in the Stittsworth Memory Chapel with Pastor Helmer Johnson officiating. Committal prayers will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery under the kind guidance of the Amy Stittsworth Funeral Service.
Ivon was born on April 15, 1938 South of Drummond, Oklahoma, the third child of Floyd Goff and Irene Hatfield and passed away peacefully on June 17, 2026 at her residence.
She was raised in Waukomis, graduating from Drummond High School with the class of 1956. Ivon was a lifelong secretary working at several places. In January of 1962, Ivon married Earl Shelton and to this union a daughter, Iilene was born.
Later, Ivon married Don Choate in Las Vegas. He passed away September 11, 2004. She ran a hot oil service out of her house. Ivon was also involved in Don’s cattle business. When she retired, she volunteered at Ross Healthcare/Hospice for 11 years. She also volunteered at Camp Buckskin for 3 years as a history guide. Ivon was a member of 132 Bible Baptist Church for a long time and played the piano and sang soprano there. She played piano for many funerals and weddings.
Ivon is survived by her daughter, Iilene Whitehead of the home and grandson, Levi Whitehead of Enid.
She was preceded in passing by her parents; brother, Myron Goff; and sister, Zelma Goff.
