Celebration of Life Service for Janice Lee David, 76 of Enid, will be 2:00 pm Wednesday, October 7, 2026, in the Anderson-Burris Funeral Home Chapel. Cremation will follow the service. Visitation with the family will be Tuesday evening from 6:00 to 7:00 pm at Anderson-Burris.
Janice was born January 13, 1950, in Temple, Texas to Vernon and Maybelle Frazier Whelchel, and passed away Sunday, October 4, 2026, in Enid.
On December 22, 1966, she married Howard L. David, Jr., in Fairbanks, Alaska. They started their family and travelled the world via the Army. They moved to Enid after retirement from the military in 1987. Janice enjoyed life with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who she cherished.
Janice was preceded in death by her parents Vernon and Maybelle Whelchel, her husband Howard L. David Jr, sisters, Patty Griffee, Peggy Herter, Carol Lewis and Ella Roach, and a brother, William Whelchel. She is survived by her children, April David, Milton and his wife Candie David, Rebecca David and Mistie David Smith, eight grandchildren Julianne Leachman, Keerstee Wallace and husband Sam, Kaycee Foley and husband Sam, Zachary Smith, Anthony Foley, Keaton Smith, William David, and Brayden Smith and seven great-grandchildren Shyler Smith, Trey Waggoner, Hunter Waggoner, Mahina Waggoner, Easton Foley, Oliver Woods and Owen Woods, a brother Vernon Whelchel and a sister Virginia Whelchel.
